Tutoring Models for Schools
Proficiency Builders (formerly College Tutors of Indiana) has been partnering with schools since 2020 through developing and delivering tutoring services that support efforts to accelerate proficiency growth. A data-driven tutoring model that is tailored to the school’s goals, expectations, and unique environment can be a powerful tool that will support the mission of the school, making a measurable and meaningful impact on proficiency growth. All Proficiency Builders tutors are direct employees of our locally owned business and personally selected and managed in respect to the scope of each school’s tutoring needs.

Vision and Purpose
School systems are navigating urgent academic recovery needs, staff capacity constraints, and an increased need for targeted instruction based on student performance data. Schools and families are looking for tutoring partners who not only deliver quality tutoring but who understand the complexity of student performance data, school environments, curriculum terrain, and can operate as true collaborators. Proficiency Builders provides a gamut of offerings so that schools can select or collaborate on an approach that will fit their students’ needs best. With an academic strategy centered around data-driven instruction, family and engagement techniques, and intentional liaising with partners, we deliver results that will deepen instructional impact. Proficiency Builders exists to accelerate student growth and proficiency by leveraging consistent, high-dosage, small-group instruction that addresses academic gaps and builds confidence. We are committed to championing proficiency for all students and ensuring equitable access to high-impact academic interventions.

Proficiency Builders has experience and capacity to oversee the entire tutoring program: tutor management, scheduling, data reporting, etc.

To optimize impact, we provide several different approaches as well as options for in-person or online tutoring. The decided upon approach depends on the needs of each school and whether they have a pre-identified approach or would like Proficiency Builders to suggest an approach based on student data. Growth Support

Extended team to support school’s defined tutoring model
School has a pre-determined and defined tutoring model and Proficiency Builders will provide a staff of tutors to support the model and tools for progress monitoring, reporting, etc. All tutors will be trained and onboarded to schools expectations, and managed by our local team with ongoing development and HR adjustments as needed.

Foundational Support

Data-driven, collaborative proficiency growth model
School and Proficiency Builders analyze data to develop an approach best fits specific subsets of student performance needs. All tutors will be trained and onboarded to schools expectations, and managed by our local team with ongoing development and HR adjustments as needed.

Proficiency Push

Designed to solidify path of near proficient students to proficiency
Proficiency Builders develops skill-building approach adjacent to core curriculum, utilizing supporting tools such as MobyMax, IXL, etc.

With this data-driven approach comes specific goals, frequent progress monitoring, quarterly mastery checks, and flexibility to adjust instruction or supports as needed. We believe that when students are invested and families are involved, results are strengthened. If needed, we can suggest ways to bolster student and family engagement as well as provide daily or weekly updates to keep investment, clarity on progress, and engagement high.
