How We Tutor
All of our tutoring is customized to the unique needs of each student, and is delivered through one of three models: PrepLogX, SkillLogX, and PathLogX. Each one of our instructors is selected for their subject and instructional expertise and ability to naturally “connect” with students…with each tutor specifically matched to the specific needs of the student.

For many students, a lack or preparation skills is common cause of proficiency gaps.1 , which is why we incorporate study and organizational skills coaching into most of our tutoring engagements. This is a core part of how we tutor at Proficiency Builders, ensuring long-term retention and academic growth.
Our PrepLogX tutoring the right solution for students who are struggling with one or two subjects, and would benefit from study and organizational skills coaching. PrepLogX is a logical, straightforward approach to building and executing effective exam and project plans. Students learn and practice effective study and organizational strategies during their tutoring engagement as these skills are immersed in the tutoring process, which provides more relevance and retention as opposed to a stand-alone process.
The PrepLogX process starts with an an assessment of the student’s readiness for the exam or project, from which a student plan is created and implemented with guidance from the tutor, with progress tracked in the PrepLogX Readiness Dashboard. SkillLogX is designed for students who are struggling in multiple subjects and have issues with key, essential skills which are having a negative impact on overall academic performance. SkillLogX helps students grow proficiency in their subjects while developing academic skills and habits that are critical for current and future classes.
As with PrepLogX, organizational and study skills coaching is immersed directly into the subject tutoring for stronger retention, but SkillLogX places additional, dedicated focus on those essential academic skills that are so critical for success now, and in the future. This reflects how we tutor at Proficiency Builders—teaching content and skills simultaneously.
SkillLogX starts with a consultative meeting with the family and is followed by observational and formal assessments that will define the appropriate tutoring path unique to that student’s journey to success. All progress is tracked in the SkillLogX Academic Skills Dashboard. The dashboard provides ongoing clarity into the performance of the student and what adjustments are needed, which is valuable for the student and helps parents understand how and where to better support their child.
For students who are struggling in school and may have unique learning challenges that need dedicated attention, PathLogX is a starting point for parents who are seeking assistance with finding some initial direction for their child.
With PathLogX, we begin with a consultative meeting with the family, followed by assessments. This typically leads to applying our SkillLogX framework, supplemented by support from a specialist. For families who need clarity on next steps, PathLogX provides a guided starting point and embodies how we tutor at Proficiency Builders—with empathy, structure, and precision.
School Partnerships
For our school partnerships, we have the ability to create a custom tutoring model based on specific progress goals and school protocols. We have been providing in-school tutoring since 2022 and have delivered over 50,000 hours of of High Impact Tutoring, accelerating proficiency growth to students in grades 3-12. High Impact Tutoring model options include:
- Proficiency Builders’ turn-key solution that starts with analysis of benchmark/baseline student data and goals of the school, leading to program and related material and sequencing selection, tutor matching and development, and progress data and other deliverables.
- Proficiency Builders delivers a tutoring team that is coached and managed to execute a tutoring model determined by the school.
- A hybrid model of the school team working with Proficiency Builders to develop a tutoring solution based on the school’s specific criteria and the best practices gained from Proficiency Builders in-school tutoring experience.
